Novice Invitation Eligibility Rules

The AQHA Region 3 Championship Show Committee has approved providing Novice Youth and Novice Amateur exhibitors the opportunity to obtain an “Invitation” to the 2009 AQHA Region 3 Championship Show, July 14-18, 2010, in St. Paul, Minnesota. In order to obtain this “Invitation,” the Novice Youth or Novice Amateur exhibitor would have to participate in the designated Novice Eligibility Show in their Affiliate Association and place according to the AQHA Region 3 Championship Show Eligibility Rules. This “Invitation” applies to AQHA approved Novice Youth or Novice Amateur classes only.

The number of Novice Youth and Novice Amateur exhibitors receiving an “Invitation” in each class will depend on the proximity of the Region 3 Affiliate to the Region 3 Host Affiliate.  For 2010, Minnesota Novice Youth and Novice Amateurs placing first, Wisconsin and Iowa Novice Youth and Novice Amateurs placing first through third, and Missouri, Illinois and Manitoba Novice Youth and Novice Amateurs placing first through fifth at the designated show will receive an “Invitation.”

The Novice Youth or Novice Amateur can only receive an “Invitation” at a show in their home Affiliate Association.  The “Invitation” applies to the exhibitor/horse combination and will allow the exhibitor/horse to participate in the class at the 2009 Region 3 Experience in which they received the “Invitation” without paying an entry fee for that class ($32 per class by June 15 and $42 per class after June 15).  An Exhibitor may not use more than three “Invitations” per division (Novice Youth or Novice Amateur).

NOTE:  All other charges, stall fees, bedding, etc., are the responsibility of the exhibitor.   NOTE:  If applicable, a $32 reduction per “Invitation” will be applied against the day fee ($100) within the appropriate division (Novice Youth or Novice Amateur) if received by June 15.  If received after June 15 a $42 reduction will be applied against the day fee ($140).

A Novice Youth exhibitor receiving an “Invitation” in an All Age Novice Youth class may use it in either the corresponding 13 and Under class or the corresponding 14-18 class if applicable at the 2010 Region 3 Championship Show.

It is up to the Novice Youth or Novice Amateur exhibitor to make sure that they provide the show committee with all required information (name, address, phone number, horse’s name and registration number) so that notification of their “Invitation” can be handled in a timely manner.

Affiliate Association Guidelines

1.  Each Affiliate will identify one Novice Show in 2010 as their Region 3 Championship Show Novice Eligibility Show.  If the Affiliate does not have a Novice Show, or their Novice Show date is after the 2010 Region 3 Experience (July 14-18, 2010) they may identify one regular Affiliate show as their Region 3 Championship Novice Eligibility Show.  (It is suggested that if a non-Novice show is chosen, that it be one with a large Novice participation.  If it is double judged, then identify one judge as the Region 3 Championship Novice Eligibility Judge.)

2.  Each Affiliate will be responsible for providing the AQHA Region 3 Committee with the name, address and phone number of the Novice exhibitor and the horse’s name and registration number on which they became eligible for the Region 3 Championship Show “Invitation” in a timely manner.

FIRST TIME EXHIBITOR CLASS GUIDELINES

Are you ready to take the plunge?

Each region has the option of offering any or all of the following six classes geared toward those exhibitors who have never shown with AQHA before.

1.  Western Pleasure

2.  Western Horsemanship

3.  Showmanship

4.  Trail

5.  Hunter Under Saddle

6.  Hunt Seat Equitation

These can be held as all age classes or with a youth and adult division for each class.  Ages determined the same as for AQHA youth and amateur classes.

In order to be eligible to compete in the first time exhibitor classes, the exhibitor cannot have ever shown in that class at an AQHA show.  Exhibitors shall obtain proof of their show record from the AQHA booth in the trade show.  Additionally, exhibitors in these classes are strongly encouraged to wear a plain, long sleeve, button down western shirt and jeans in the western classes and showmanship.  Exhibitors in the English classes will wear traditional attire.  Additionally, it is encouraged to use tack with limited or no silver.  All other eligibility rules pertaining to the Regional Championships will still apply in these classes.

The Region 3 Championship Show will provide awards and ribbons to be awarded to first through tenth place in each class.

Results from these classes will not be recorded on AQHA records.

Entry Fee for the First Time Exhibitor Classes is $10.00 per class. These classes will not be counted in the Region 3 All Day Fee.
