Region 3 Youth Report
- December 2007
We wanted to update you on what’s happening with the AQHYA projects and how our region and states can be involved.
1. Special
Equestrians- our national community service project
We will be
selling/auctioning bracelets to raise money for youth who need financial
assistance to attend their program. The bracelets come in the
fashionable colors orange and teal with sayings “Live, Laugh, Ride” or
“Life is a Ride.” Contact us to get yours today for $3! We will also
be collecting items from their wish list. We encourage you to help us
in this venture as it is such a great cause. Visit their website
http://www.specialequestrians.org/.
2. Jackson
Land and Cattle Youth World Show Assistance Fund- Is the cost of
competing at the Youth World Show keeping you from accomplishing your
dream??? If you answered yes, then this could be the answer to your
financial challenges. This fund is for youth who need financial
assistance to attend the AQHYA World Show. All you have to do is send
the completed application to AQHYA and find out if you qualified for
funding. We have attached an application for your convenience and would
appreciate you spreading awareness of this program so more youth can
take advantage of it. Last year over $30,000 was awarded!

3. We are continuing our mission of taking Junior Master Horseman into classrooms and 4-H groups around the nation. If you would like to be involved, please contact us. Looks great on a resume! 4. Regional Happenings- We encourage you all to keep us informed about what is going on in your states. We would like to have a Region 3 Leadership Conference in the spring. If you are interested please email me back with ideas and possible dates. I know year- end meetings are coming up, this would be something good to talk about. Also, for the special equestrians project, our region is going to collect monetary donations. This would be easy to do at your year- end conventions and banquets. Please visit the website listed above or get in touch with one of us. We have a lot of information about this and even a video you could show. We need everyones help with these projects. Please keep your state informed about what's going on at AQHYA and help us show AQHYA how great of a region we are! 5. Mark your calendar for the 2008 YES and AQHYA Convention- June 19-21st

I hope the school year and shows are going well for everyone. My name is Cara Walker. Cait Kerber, Kody Zaagman and I were elected this past summer at the Youth Excellence Seminar to serve as your 2007-2008 AQHYA Region 3 Directors. We are going to try and send a monthly regional report to you.
The purpose of the
regional report is to keep the state affiliates informed about what the
AQHYA is doing and how they can get involved on a National Level, also to
increase communication throughout the region.
Community Service-
AQHYA is asking for donations to benefit Special Equestrians. Special
Equestrians is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality
therapeutic programs for individuals (mostly youth) with physical, emotional
and cognitive challenges. Please see their Wish List below; monetary
donations will also be accepted to help provide students with scholarships.

Monetary Donations Welcome!
I want to encourage
all of you to reach out to your affiliate youth associations to collect
these items. Since our region is somewhat large you will have to take
it upon yourselves to set goals with your state and work to accomplish
them. This time of year is a great time to work on this project. You can
encourage youth to bring these items to fall horse shows, your banquet/
youth meetings at the end of the year, etc..
Junior Master
Horseman- The AQHYA Leadership Team’s goal is to visit at least two
classrooms and teach them a lesson out of JMH. If you are interested in
combining efforts or learning more about JMH please contact Cara, Cait or
Kody.
A goal we would like
to accomplish in the region this year is to hold a Region 3 Leadership
Conference. Please talk with your state affiliate and put together some
dates for late winter and the spring of next year. Email me with dates and
potential places we could hold the conference. These have been a huge
success in the past and are always a ton of fun!

now for the Youth Excellence Seminar (YES) and AQHYA Convention, June 19-21st!!!
