2012 SHOW SCHEDULE

Class Entry Information for the 2012 Region 3 Championships Show

In 2012 the Region 3 Championships Show will offer AQHA point classes in addition to the regular Region 3 Affiliate classes.

Prior to 2011 the Region 3 Championships Show offered classes (R3C designated classes) open only to exhibitors residing in the Region 3 Affiliates of Illinois, Iowa, Manitoba, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin or exhibitors who did not reside in the Region 3 Affiliates of Illinois, Iowa, Manitoba, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin but who had requested and been granted a "Hardship" request through AQHA to participate in the Region 3 Championships show.

In 2012 the Region 3 Championships Show will continue to offer the Region 3 Affiliate classes (R3C designated classes) but will offer AQHA point classes (AQHA designated classes) whose participation is not dependent on where you reside, in other words the AQHA point classes are open to the world.

On the 2012 Region 3 Championship show bill, classes are designated as:

Item 1 -  "R3C" classes are open to exhibitors residing in the Region 3 Affiliates of Illinois, Iowa, Manitoba, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin or exhibitors who do not reside in the Region 3 Affiliates of Illinois, Iowa, Manitoba, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin but who have requested and been granted a "Hardship" request through AQHA to participate in the Region 3 Affiliate classes.   These classes are entered on the Region 3 Championships Class Entry Forms.   These classes will be shown as separate classes and will be judged by the Region 3 Class Judges.

Item 2 -  "AQHA" classes are open to all exhibitors and are not dependent on where you reside.  These classes are entered on the Region 3 Championships AQHA Class Entry Form.  These classes will be shown as separate classes and will be judged by the AQHA Class Judges.

Item 3 -  "R3C/AQHA" classes are a combination of the individually shown "R3C" and "AQHA" classes and the classes will be shown concurrently.  While the classes are individually identified as "R3C" and "AQHA" classes on their specific entry forms (Region 3 Championships Class Entry Form and Region 3 Championships AQHA Class Entry Form)  and the specific entry rules still apply (see Item 1 and Item 2 above) the actual classes will be held concurrently.  The exhibitors may enter only the "R3C" side of the class and will be judged by the Region 3 Class Judges, or they may enter only the "AQHA" side of the class and will be judged by the AQHA Class Judges, or they may enter both the "R3C and "AQHA" sides of the class and while they will only show once they will be judged by both the Region 3 Class Judges and the AQHA Class Judges.  While the classes are run concurrently, the "R3C" entrants will only be judged against those specifically entered in the "R3C" side of the class and the "AQHA" entrants will only be judged against those specifically entered in the "AQHA" side of the class.  Their placings in the "R3C" side of the class and "AQHA" side of the class will be announced separately.

Each exhibitor must be a current AQHA member and all horses must be AQHA registered.

Additionally, you or your horse cannot show the same Region 3 Affiliate designated class in any division (novice youth, youth, novice amateur, amateur, amateur select or open) at a Regional Championship that you placed in the Top 10 in the preceding calendar year’s FedEx Open, Bank of America Amateur, Bayer Select or AQHYA Ford World Championship Shows.  Additionally, horses or people who might advance to another class because of age and have placed in the top 10 at one of AQHA’s World Shows cannot enter the same Region 3 Affiliate designated class at the regional level.

For Exhibitors who reside outside of the Region 3 Affiliates,  you may apply for hardship status to allow you eligibility to participate in a Region 3 Affiliate designated class  at the 2012 Region 3 Championship.  EMAIL INFO@REGION3EXPERIENCE.COM to request a hardship application.

Exhibitors please note the Minnesota State Fairgrounds does not allow dogs in the Coliseum.

For more information see our FAQ page.

Rookie Level Amateur & Youth Classes

Eligibility for a Rookie-level class depends on both the horse and the rider’s show records:

  • For a horse to be eligible to compete in a Rookie-level class, that horse must have earned fewer than 10 lifetime points in that class in any division.
  • For an exhibitor to be eligible to compete in a Rookie-level class, that exhibitor must have earned fewer than 10 lifetime points in that class in any division.
  • Thus, to compete in a Rookie level class, the horse and rider must each have earned fewer than 10 points in that particular class.

Open, amateur, Novice amateur, youth, Novice youth and Rookie-level points all count toward Rookie-level eligibility.

Upon earning 10 points in a particular class in any division, the horse will immediately become ineligible to compete in that particular class at the Rookie level in any division. The owner of the horse will receive a certificate of recognition, similar to a Register of Merit, and the accomplishment will be added to the horse’s show record.

Also, upon earning 10 points in a particular class in any division, the exhibitor will immediately become ineligible to compete in that particular class at the Rookie level in any division. The exhibitor will receive a certificate of recognition, and the accomplishment will be added to the exhibitor’s show record.

2012 Region 3 Championships Affiliate Class Entry Fees

$33.00 per class -OR- $110.00 (division fee) show any/all Region 3 affiliate classes (in the same division) for entries made/paid by June 15

$44.00 per class -OR- $150.00 (division fee) show any/all Region 3 affiliate classes (in the same division) for entries made/paid after June 15

Speed Classes Optional Jackpot    $10.00 per class

What is the Division Fee? For exhibitors entering the same horse in four (4) or more classes within a division (open, amateur/select, novice amateur, youth, novice youth)  it may be to your advantage to pay the division fee rather than the per class entry fee, allowing you to enter unlimited classes within that division for the one low fee. Note in the open division, the horse may be shown by different exhibitors; in the amateur and youth divisions the horse/exhibitor must be the same throughout the division. You do not have to pay the division fee if you wish to only enter a couple of R3C classes, you can always pay just the per class entry fee of just $33.00 ($44.00 for entries paid after June 15).

SMALL FRY WALK TROT CLASSES - EXHIBITORS 9 & UNDER... We are also pleased to include six Small Fry Walk Trot Classes in the Region 3 Championships! Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation and Trail! Horses shown by the Small Fry Set do not have to meet AQHA ownership requirements, but you must include all necessary paperwork with your entries (still need copy of AQHA papers). Classes are run as a walk/trot class - no loping. Small Fry Classes will have different awards for placings 1-10. These classes will not receive the AQHA awards listed. These classes are not AQHA approved and will not go on horse's AQHA show record. NOTE: Exhibitors who show in the Youth 13 & Under or Novice Youth 13 & Under classes are NOT eligible for Small Fry classes.
